Your Dream Is Never Too Big To Be Lived

I was begining to think that maybe, it’s quite possible to have a dream that is too big. My brain had stopped running, no idea was coming and I did for a second there think I was sinking and my work was going down as well.

Then I saw this video. Pia Toscano on Positively Positive.

Your Attitute + Your Choices = Your Life. from Positively Positive.

Your Attitute + Your Choices = Your Life. from Positively Positive.

Now I think maybe a dream is only too big when you stop working at it and give audience to the distractions. People that we might think have failed because they didn’t win the show, or didn’t even make it to the last stage of a competition; guess what, they are actually pursuing and living their dream.

So now I’m pushing forward. I’m stopping only to analyse the situation, come up with another plan of attack, and resume.

Do you ever find yourself leaving your dream at the face of an obstacle? How can you we react differently to challenges?

DO They Know It’s Christmas Time At All?

Do They Know It's Christmas Time At All?

Wire and Beads Christmas Tree - a symbol of Christmas with an African feel.

This post was going to be of the Band Aid song Do they Know it’s Christmas Time At All? But for some reason, I find the lyrics to that song a bit upsetting, mostly because coming from a desert African country that has never experienced snow in my lifetime (I don’t think); my earliest and best memories were of Christmas.

Early Christmas times were when:

1. Family members came together again. The aunt and uncle you haven’t seen in months won’t miss Christmas.

2. No matter how poor you were the rest of the year, at Christmas time the meal was always a little special. Memories of those Christmas day meals would carry you through more than half the next year.

3. Troubles or not, everyone has their happy face on (except maybe the person who hasn’t been playing nice and has been asked to excuse himself)

4. And parents try to get you a “new” outfit – brand new with tags (as they say on eBay) or new simply because you’ve never won it.

And so many more reasons. So yes, I knew it was Christmas time.

What early memories do you associate with Christmas?

Do Good Tirelessly And Often

Never Get Tired of Doing Little Things / visual bookmark #18216046

Never get tired of doing little things for others, sometimes those little things occupy the biggest part of their hearts.

The above words remind of Galatians 6:9.

This year I’ve decided to minimize the pressure of Christmas present hunting. I told my 5-year-old that she was to select 2 toys that she no longer plays with to give as presents to someone else. Win – win, I don’t have to spend more money than I can, and someone else is more blessed this Christmas.

This was last night, early this morning she showed me the two stuffed toys she wants to give away. The teddy elephant is in mint condition but Winnie the Pooh’s nose had a run in with a pair of scissors, so he won’t be going anywhere. When she told her father about ‘her’ plan, he was visibly impressed! 🙂

So now that I’m being out done by a 5-year-old, I’ll be looking for 2 items worth passing along too. I’m already thinking that one of them might be a bottle of perfume.

What win – win activity can you do this Christmas with your family? I welcome more ideas in the comments below.

Chicken Soup for The Soul – Make A Difference

Chicken Soup for the Soul by Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen

Get inspired. Read Chicken Soup for the Soul by Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen

Can you believe it, I’m finally reading a Chicken Soup book. It was a bit slow going start with, I was beginning to wonder what all the fuss was about and then I came across “Who You are makes a Difference“; as I continued, my eyes would well a bit at some of the stories.

I retold some of the stories to my husband and he says he wants to read it too 🙂

Add this to your reading list for these holidays. It inspired me smile at the drivers in the same traffic as us :)!

Have you read any of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Books, and what were you inspired to do? Please share in the comments area below.

Serenity Prayer

Beautiful Flowers- from

Beautiful Flowers from to accompany The Serenity Prayer

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

It’s never too late to make a change, it is a new month after all. Happy December! 🙂

World AIDS Day Dec 1 2011 – Get Educated

Get tested. Get educated. Get involved.

Get tested. Get educated. Get involved.

Get tested. Get educated. Get involved.

Learn the facts about HIV/Aids and the strides that have been made over the years. Learn about how it is transmitted and how it can be prevented. This knowledge will help us live healthier and take care of others.

Here are some facts about HIV in the UK from

  • Over 90% of people with HIV were infected through sexual contact
  • You can now get tested for HIV using a saliva sample (this, I didn’t know!)
  • HIV is not passed on through spitting, biting or sharing utensils
  • Only 1% of babies born to HIV positive mothers have HIV
  • You can get the results of an HIV test in just 15-20 minutes
  • There is no vaccine and no cure for HIV

Please note that these figures may be different in your part of the world.

No Teachers Today, Still The Teaching Continues

I got this text message yesterday:

REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS: School is closed to children tomorrow Wednesday 30 November due to industrial action.

This means that my super-mummy skills will be put to the test.

humor fingers depth of field buddies - Wallpaper (#924441) /

That'll be me in the middle with my no-nonsense outfit, directing and engaging 2 kids - ALL day!

We’ll start light and see how the day goes.

  1. Make pancakes. That’s a good interactive activity for a 5 year old.
  2. Make Christmas cards.  Good handwriting practice for everyone – I know I need handwriting practice.
  3. Visit the post office. That’ll actually be an excuse to stop somewhere for some ice-cream, but I hope we get our creations posted.
  4. Learn about God. The Watch Tower ladies have already been and left me with some literature titled What Should Children Learn About God?
  5. Excuse me, Sorry, Please, Thank you, You’re welcome. My youngest is in for a big lesson today.

Lord, you know you’re good! To my fellow parents who are home with the kids today, good luck! 🙂
