What is Your Fear?

Fear is whatever is around you that is limiting your power or your potential.

Family on Bikes says that:

Live a dream in the next 24 hours.

If you know you have been busy living out your fears, live intentionally by living your dream in the next 24 hours.

A Girl at The Well says that;

Don't let fear is stop YOUR life.

Therefore, you need to take action now. Advanced Riskology advises that we,

Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity.

For me, my main fear is a lack in faith. Faith being trust. My journey is to build my faith/trust more.

What lies has fear used to hold you back so far in your life? Or business? Or relationships? Leave your comments below.

Happiness is a Choice

Are you Happy?

Are you happy? The choice is yours.

I’m Not Listening

The voice in my head has been taking up a lot of air play of late, and she’s not very encouraging. I have to make a choice:

1) Do I stop listening, or

2) Do I give her new words to say?

There is no way that we can shut out our little voice, so my only choice is to give her new words to say back to me. A new focus. A new plan. A new picture.

Any ideas on how I can re-focus? How do you practically pull yourself away from negative thinking or replaying your mishaps?

Your Dream Is Never Too Big To Be Lived

I was begining to think that maybe, it’s quite possible to have a dream that is too big. My brain had stopped running, no idea was coming and I did for a second there think I was sinking and my work was going down as well.

Then I saw this video. Pia Toscano on Positively Positive.

Your Attitute + Your Choices = Your Life. from Positively Positive.

Your Attitute + Your Choices = Your Life. from Positively Positive.

Now I think maybe a dream is only too big when you stop working at it and give audience to the distractions. People that we might think have failed because they didn’t win the show, or didn’t even make it to the last stage of a competition; guess what, they are actually pursuing and living their dream.

So now I’m pushing forward. I’m stopping only to analyse the situation, come up with another plan of attack, and resume.

Do you ever find yourself leaving your dream at the face of an obstacle? How can you we react differently to challenges?

DO They Know It’s Christmas Time At All?

Do They Know It's Christmas Time At All?

Wire and Beads Christmas Tree - a symbol of Christmas with an African feel.

This post was going to be of the Band Aid song Do they Know it’s Christmas Time At All? But for some reason, I find the lyrics to that song a bit upsetting, mostly because coming from a desert African country that has never experienced snow in my lifetime (I don’t think); my earliest and best memories were of Christmas.

Early Christmas times were when:

1. Family members came together again. The aunt and uncle you haven’t seen in months won’t miss Christmas.

2. No matter how poor you were the rest of the year, at Christmas time the meal was always a little special. Memories of those Christmas day meals would carry you through more than half the next year.

3. Troubles or not, everyone has their happy face on (except maybe the person who hasn’t been playing nice and has been asked to excuse himself)

4. And parents try to get you a “new” outfit – brand new with tags (as they say on eBay) or new simply because you’ve never won it.

And so many more reasons. So yes, I knew it was Christmas time.

What early memories do you associate with Christmas?

Do Good Tirelessly And Often

Never Get Tired of Doing Little Things / visual bookmark #18216046

Never get tired of doing little things for others, sometimes those little things occupy the biggest part of their hearts.

The above words remind of Galatians 6:9.

This year I’ve decided to minimize the pressure of Christmas present hunting. I told my 5-year-old that she was to select 2 toys that she no longer plays with to give as presents to someone else. Win – win, I don’t have to spend more money than I can, and someone else is more blessed this Christmas.

This was last night, early this morning she showed me the two stuffed toys she wants to give away. The teddy elephant is in mint condition but Winnie the Pooh’s nose had a run in with a pair of scissors, so he won’t be going anywhere. When she told her father about ‘her’ plan, he was visibly impressed! 🙂

So now that I’m being out done by a 5-year-old, I’ll be looking for 2 items worth passing along too. I’m already thinking that one of them might be a bottle of perfume.

What win – win activity can you do this Christmas with your family? I welcome more ideas in the comments below.

No Teachers Today, Still The Teaching Continues

I got this text message yesterday:

REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS: School is closed to children tomorrow Wednesday 30 November due to industrial action.

This means that my super-mummy skills will be put to the test.

humor fingers depth of field buddies - Wallpaper (#924441) /

That'll be me in the middle with my no-nonsense outfit, directing and engaging 2 kids - ALL day!

We’ll start light and see how the day goes.

  1. Make pancakes. That’s a good interactive activity for a 5 year old.
  2. Make Christmas cards.  Good handwriting practice for everyone – I know I need handwriting practice.
  3. Visit the post office. That’ll actually be an excuse to stop somewhere for some ice-cream, but I hope we get our creations posted.
  4. Learn about God. The Watch Tower ladies have already been and left me with some literature titled What Should Children Learn About God?
  5. Excuse me, Sorry, Please, Thank you, You’re welcome. My youngest is in for a big lesson today.

Lord, you know you’re good! To my fellow parents who are home with the kids today, good luck! 🙂

Applying The Golden Rule Online

"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud" by Maya Angelou

"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud" by Maya Angelou. Someone else will try to be a rainbow in yours. Such is a teaching of the Golden Rule.

I wrote previously about being a positive influence on the people around you instead of waiting for them to be that for you. Are you a Drain? Today, I am reminded of that great Bible scripture which says:

Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

So this week, in order to not be a drain, I’m going to make positive comments on all the Facebook pages that I like (my list is not that long), starting with Kiki-Whispers. They need feedback on their website and I can spare 10 minutes to give them an opinion that will help them improve and continue the hard work.

So if you didn’t know how you could be of help to your friends and coleagues, support their efforts on Facebook and other social networks. And don’t forget to like Scents and Fragrances while you’re at it 🙂
